‘Dhoti look’ of Kane Williamson in Karachi sparks online debate

New Zealand captain Kane Williamson’s viral video in a white dhoti or towel confuses fans as he prepares for the ICC Champions Trophy in Pakistan.

New Zealand batter Kane Williamson has sparked debate online after he was spotted wearing a dhoti in a viral video.

The cricketer was seen wearing a white dhoti -kind of attire paired with a grey shirt in a hotel in Karachi. Kane Williamson is visiting Pakistan along with his team for Tri-Nation series ahead of ICC Champions Trophy.

The video of Kane Williamson has gone viral on social media, leaving netizens confused. Dhoti is a South Asian garment worn by men in this region.

Video sparked debate as some believe he was wearing a dhoti, hence appreciated him of embracing the local culture. Whereas, others believed that the white garment can be a white towel wrapped. However, only Kane Williamson can answer the query if he was wearing the towel or a dhoti.

On the other hand, New Zealand team will continue their stay in Pakistan for ICC Champions Trophy starting from February 19th in Karachi. New Zealand also won the Tri-Nation series after defeating Pakistan in the final on Friday. The opening match of the ICC Champions Trophy will be played between New Zealand and defending champion Pakistan.

On the other hand, the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) will participate in the grand opening ceremony for the ICC Champions Trophy. The PAF will perform a spectacular flypast welcoming the guest teams for the tournament.

With the breathtaking flypast, PAF will display the country’s airpower.  The prestigious Sherdil Aerobatics Team, along with JF-17 Thunder and F-16 fighter jets, will take center stage, delivering an aerial display expected to captivate cricket fans worldwide.

With Pakistan hosting the ICC Champions Trophy, preparations are in full swing. Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore and the National Stadium in Karachi were inaugurated after renovations and major upgrades.

Just days before the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif officially unveiled the newly renovated Gaddafi Stadium on Friday, ushering in a new chapter for the iconic venue, which has stood for 65 years.
