Turkish series, Dirilis Ertugrul topped the Google Search trends 2020 in Pakistan in the category of TV dramas and movies.
The drama outran the second most-watched Pakistani serial, ‘Meray Pass Tum Ho’ in Pakistan, showed the latest trends released by the search engine, Google, this week.
The drama was broadcasted in Ramzan in May in Pakistan this year coinciding with the coronavirus lockdown in Pakistan. The entertainment behemoth glued the Pakistani audience to the TV screen, with PTV broadcasting its Urdu-dubbed episodes to facilitate the masses.
PTV had aired the series on the special recommendation of Prime Minister Imran Khan, as a part of his vision on social reforms.
“I warned against copying the west and Bollywood alike but people said this is what the public wants to watch. Ertugrul is also one of the most widely watched series, it doesn’t have any obscenity,” Khan said earlier in October.
Ever since its broadcast, the series ruled the social media platforms in Pakistan including YouTube and online streaming platform, Netflix.
