Doctor issued show-cause notice for visiting Shahbaz Gill, criticizing govt.

The hospital took note of the tweet and said it is "highly objectionable" and being a contractual employee of a government institute, the doctor does not have the mandate to involve himself in such "subversive activities".

Doctor Saeed Mustafa has been issued a show-cause notice for visiting PTI leader Dr. Shahbaz Gill while he was in the hospital, and for criticizing the incumbent government in a tweet later.

According to the details, Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University – where Doctor Saeed is an Assistant Professor – issued the show-cause notice “for committing acts of omission and commission, which constitute misconduct.”

The show-cause notice mentioned the tweet by Doctor Saeed Mustafa – who is also the General Secretary of PTI Doctors’ Wing – where he demanded transparency on the donations received by the UN for Pakistan’s flood victims.

“I want open track and audit of $160 million flash appeal given to Pakistan’s government by the UN. My belief is that our government is corrupt to the bone, and these funds will not reach the deserving affectees,” Dr Saeed Mustafa tweeted.

The hospital took note of the tweet and said it is “highly objectionable” and being a contractual employee of a government institute, the doctor does not have the mandate to involve himself in such “subversive activities”.

Since Doctor Saeed is a PTI worker, he visited Dr Shahbaz Gill the day he was brought to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS). Regarding this, the show-cause notice said that Doctor Saeed interfered in the affairs of the hospital, misled the security, showed resistance, and refused to leave.

Reaction to the show-cause notice

Needless to say, the show-cause notice sparked criticism for the government who was once again accused of fascism.

Dr. Saeed was sacked by those who denounced Tehreek-e-Insaf as fascist because he had gone to visit Dr. Shahbaz Gill. Spread this message as much as possible and support Dr. Saeed Mustafa. We stand with our brother,” PTI Senator Zeeshan Khanzada tweeted.

“The imported government continues political victimization. The federal government issued show cause notice to Dr Saeed Mustafa for performing his duty as a doctor to look after Shahbaz Gill at PIMS Hospital and condemning the fascism of the imported government on social media, “Dr. Iftikhar Durrani, former advisor to KP government tweeted.

Meanwhile, Dr Saeed himself vowed that he will continue his struggle for freedom and that he is being targeted for political revenge.

“I am being targeted for political revenge. Sacrificing a job is a very small thing in the real freedom movement – I cannot be swayed by any tactics in the real freedom struggle – I will not bow down to fear of losing a job. Rizk is provided by Allah,” Dr Saeed tweeted.
