In a major achievement, Dr. Anoosh Masood has become the first female police officer to be appointed as senior superintendent (SSP) of Lahore’s operations wing, the media reported.
According to details, the Punjab inspector general of police made the appointment after reshuffling six other officers. Dr. Anoosh Masood Chaudhry has been appointed head of the Lahore operations police vice Mustansar Feroz, who has been directed to report to the Central Police Office (CPO) for further order.

This is indeed a remarkable achievement as top positions in Pakistan’s police force are dominated by male officers. As per reports, the Punjab Police has around 175000 personnel. However, there are only 4000 women on the force which is less than one percent. Therefore, it is a welcome development for Pakistan when women break the stereotypes and assume leadership roles in the police force.
Female officers have also proven to be an asset to Pakistan, for example, back in 2019, the first female Station House Officer (SHO) of the Pakpattan district, Kulsoom Fatima, solved 200 rape and sexual abuse cases in just two months after her appointment.
Dr. Anoosh’s achievements
Similarly, Dr. Anoosh too has made remarkable achievements. Prior to joining the force, Dr. Anoosh won a gold medal in Medicine. After joining the police force, she made a record by becoming the first female Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) to be appointed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
She was also declared as Lahore’s best crime fighter for 2018. As per reports, under her brilliant supervision, the Model Town division for investigation had successfully filed challans in court for 74% of the cases that came to them in 2018.

Moreover, in 2019, in a test to judge the performance of senior supervisory police officers, Dr. Anoosh Masood secured 1st position among the SPs of all six divisions of the provincial capital by scoring 346 marks.
The positions were announced on the basis of the marks awarded by Lahore’s Investigation Headquarters after analyzing the crime data of the six police divisions of the city.
