Prominent dramatist and controversial speaker Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar was kidnapped and tortured in Lahore. The incident happened on the night of July 15th, 2024. The case was registered on July 22nd, 2024.
According to the details, the screenwriter was kidnapped and assaulted by a group of armed men. FIR states that Qamar received a phone call from a girl named Amna who wanted to discuss a potential drama project.
Upon reaching the given address, Qamar was ambushed by armed men who kidnapped and robbed him. Qamar stated that kidnappers assaulted him, kept him moving from one location to another, and demanded ransom from his relatives against the threat of death.
During the ordeal, kidnappers took his wallet, wrist watch and mobile phone. They also forcibly transferred Rs. 267,000 from his ATM. After several hours of abuse, Qamar was blindfolded and left in a deserted area by kidnappers, who then fled the scene.

According to the latest update, Police have arrested ring leader Amna who lured Qamar into the trap and got him kidnapped through his accomplices. Amna called Qamar and pretended to be a British citizen.
Police stated that Amna has a record of similar crime. Her modus operandi makes his targets believe she is a British citizen before gaining their trust.
A case has been registered at Sundar police station, and the investigation is ongoing to uncover further details and possibly more accomplices involved in the crime. Amna had been in contact with Qamar for five to six days before the incident.
Qamar is a popular dramatist who often remains in the news for his controversial statements on various social issues. Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar has penned hit drama serials like ‘Pyaray Afzal’, ‘Meray Pass Tum Ho’, and ‘Sadqay Tumharay’. He has also directed several films as well.
