In a major upset for Dua Zehra’s father, the Judicial Magistrate court Karachi east on Saturday rejected his plea to change the investigation officer of the case (IO).
According to the details, the court dismissed Mehdi Ali Kazmi’s plea to change the investigation officer saying the C class report of the IO has not been accepted yet. Earlier, Mehdi Ali filed a petition in court demanding a change of the investigation officer of the case.
In his plea, Dua Zehra’s father wrote that his family has no trust in the investigating officer as his behavior seems biased. Therefore, he requested a change in the investigating officer. However, the court rejected the plea.

Dua Zehra abduction case
The absurdity of Dua Zehra’s case had caused a storm in Pakistan. In April, a young girl named Dua Zehra was reported missing in Karachi. It was later learned that the girl ran away from home to marry a boy named Zaheer Ahmed in Punjab.
The case became controversial due to the contrasting claims. Dua Zehra released multiple statements claiming that she willingly married Zaheer Ahmed. On the other hand, her parents insist that she has been kidnapped and her marriage is illegal due to her young age. The majority of the public also believes that this is a case of child trafficking and Dua is being pressurized to give false statements.
Dua Zehra claimed that she is eighteen years old meanwhile her parents said she is fourteen years old. Dua’s father also showed official documents revealing her young age. However, an ossification test carried out on Dua Zehra last month revealed that the girl is between 16 to 17 years of age, prompting her father to express reservations over it and terming the medical report as fake.

According to the latest updates, Dua Zehra has been brought to Karachi where she will be presented before a special medical board formed by the Sindh government.
On the court’s orders, a 10-member medical board had been formed to examine Dua Zehra and determine her age. The anti-violent crime cell (AVCC) on Saturday secured custody of Dua Zehra to present her before the medical board in Karachi.
