A Dubai-based Pakistani man, Atif Mehmood, has been awarded 50,000 dirhams for saving an expecting cat. Pakistani man, a 24-year-old salesman, was among the three men in the viral video who saved the pregnant cat stuck at a balcony of a high-rise building.
The video had gone viral last month garnering praise and appreciation from netizens and the Dubai authorities. The young Pakistan man from Lakki Marwat garnered monetary reward, appreciation, and fame through his noble act. Calls were being made for his identification soon after the video went viral. The video has garnered 1.1 million views while Sheikh Rashid called the men “the unsung heroes”.
The video showed the men held the bedsheet for the cat, who initially hesitates to jump but then was saved.

He received the award from the prime minister of the United Arab Emirates and the ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
In an interview with the Arab News, he said that “I got a call from the police and someone asked me, ‘Did you save a cat?’,” Mehmood told Arab News. “I got scared and said yes, I did, and then they asked me to visit the police station.”
Mehmood said that at first, he was scared but later asked for help from Indian and Moroccan men. He also asked someone to give them the bedsheet.
Mehmood said he entered the Police station with praise and appreciation. Three days later he said he received the cash prize of Rs 2,172,833. He added that “I did not believe it at first,” he said, “but it has become a reality.”

He says he had spent the money to buy the car for his father and help his brother. He also intends to set up a business with the cash prize he has received.
