The nominations for the 72nd Emmy Awards have been announced and once again the best from TV and Web series have been nominated. As usual, Netflix and HBO, the two biggest names in serialized entertainment, got the most nods.
Netflix edged out HBO with a whopping 160 nominations whereas HBO could only muster 107. This time freshman streaming services Apple TV and Disney + also managed to get nods, as did Quibi.
Netflix’s history-making tally is the most ever for a network or streaming service in a single year. However, HBO’s linchpin in the limited series category Watchmen boasted an incredible 26 nominations.
