England Cricket Team hires a team chef ahead of their trip to Pakistan for a Test series. England will be playing a three-Test match series in Pakistan starting from December 1st in Rawalpindi.
Two months ago the English team visited Pakistan for a seven-match T20I series. The players had complained about food during their visit to Pakistan. The team perhaps decided to have their chef for the trip to Pakistan.
The team has hired Omar Mezaine who has served in a similar capacity for England’s men’s football team during FIFA World Cup 2018 and Euro 2020 as team chef. This is the first time the England Cricket Team has hired a chef for their overseas trip.
According to ESPN, the players were not happy with the catering services during the T20I series. The feedback from the players state that the food on offer, particularly at the match venue, was not up to the mark, with some players suffering from stomach upset at a certain part of the tour.
Moeen Ali, the standing captain of the team, said that he was a bit disappointed in Lahore when it came to food. He rated Karachi’s food very nice.

Ali expressed these views in the post-match press conference after clinching a victory 4-3 in a seven T20I series against Pakistan.
“It was a good series for us as English players performed well throughout the series,” he said.
“Efforts were required to come back in the series after losing two matches continuously, though I am happy to see that batters and bowlers accepted the challenge and won the series,” he added.
Moeen Ali also talked about the hospitality they received in Pakistan. “Food wise. I’ve been a little bit disappointed in Lahore. Karachi was nice,” said the English captain when asked about the experience of staying in Karachi and Lahore.
