Ertugrul’s visit to Pakistan uncertain after Arab allies protest: reports

Senior journalist says the broadcast of Ertugul and its humongous popularity in Pakistan has caused fissures in the relations between Pakistan and its key Arab allies.

The maiden tour of Turkish actor Engin Altan Duzyatan, Ertugrul’s lead star, to Pakistan may suffer complications after key Arab allies have voiced discontentment over his planned tour in October, stated anchorperson Dr. Mooed Pirzada in his talk show on Thursday.

The anchorperson added that the corporate firm planning to arrange Duzyatan’s trip to Pakistan has been under pressure to cancel the visit.

He shared the news in response to the comments of a senior analyst, Irshad Ahmed Arif, who said that a prominent Arab ally has voiced strong disappointment on the broadcast of Turkish series Ertugrul in Pakistan.

Analyst Arif commented that the broadcast of the series and its humongous popularity in Pakistan has caused fissures in the relations between Pakistan and its key Arab allies. Dr. Pirzada added that the Arab country has been reportedly exerting pressures through diplomatic channels to stop the visit of Duzyatan to Pakistan.

Pakistan’s state-run PTV has been broadcasting the series since April this year after Prime Minister Imran Khan recommended the youth to watch the series.

Owing to its brotherly relations with Turkey, the producers and broadcasters of the show, TRT-Turkish state-run channel, collaborated with PTV for the Urdu dubbing of the series for Pakistani masses. Duzyatan racked up a humongous fan base in Pakistan with his powerful performance as the titular character of the series.
