Ex-generals should return medals if they want to join politics: Maryam Nawaz

Reacting to her statements Fawad Chaudhry on Friday said that Maryam Nawaz should be respectful while talking about the former Pakistan Army veterans of Pakistan.

PMLN Vice President Maryam Nawaz on Thursday said that Ex-generals calling for the dismissal of the national assembly are not loyal to the country.

She said that these veterans should return their medals to the Pakistan Army if they want to join politics. Maryam Nawaz passed these statements while talking to the media outside the Islamabad High Court. She said that the incumbent government is trying to complete its term. She even directed the media to criticize the one “who made things worse”.

“Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif cares about the nation and is working day and night to improve the country’s economy,” said Maryam Nawaz.

Her statements have stirred intense reactions on social media. This is not the first time, Maryam Nawaz has attacked Pakistan Army. She has been quite vocal in her rhetoric against the institution.

She again accused the PTI government of the ongoing economic and energy crisis going on in Pakistan. “Had there not been [Maryam’s father and former premier] Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz, power outages would not have ended,” she added.

“No one tried to end the electricity outages, nobody set up power plants,” she said

She added that the PTI leader shut down the power plants set up by Nawaz Sharif. Maryam said the PMLN government will soon add 5,000MW to the system. “We are not crying, but planning,” she said.

Maryam Nawaz said PTI had taken the country to the Intensive Care Unit and plunged it into darkness. She said PMLN would clear the landmines laid by the former premier. She also accused PTI of deteriorating the foreign relations of Pakistan with friendly countries.

Reacting to her statements Fawad Chaudhry on Friday said that Maryam Nawaz should be respectful while talking about the former Pakistan Army veterans of Pakistan. He said these war veterans risked their lives and fought for Pakistan in wars. Hence should be careful in her words when talking about the veterans of the Pakistan Army. Chaudhry added that these ex-servicemen did not fight for Maryam Nawaz to trivialize their sacrifices one day.
