The inauguration of the new federal cabinet, consisting of 19 members, took place on Monday at the President’s House, with the newly-elected President Asif Ali Zardari administering the oath.
Notable figures such as Ishaq Dar, Azam Nazir Tarar, Attaullah Tarar, Khawaja Asif, Ahsan Iqbal, Ameer Mukam, Owais Leghari, Jam Kamal, Salik Hussain, Riyaz Pirzada, Rana Tanveer, Mohsin Naqvi, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Shiza Fatima, Attaullah Tarar, Qaiser Sheikh, Ahad Cheema, Musadiq Malik, and Muhammad Aurangzeb were among those sworn in. The ceremony was attended by both military and political leadership, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
Initially, ministries such as Finance, Foreign Affairs, Energy, Planning, Interior, Information, and Privatization will be allocated portfolios in the first phase. The cabinet comprises 12 MNAs, three senators serving as federal ministers, and a minister of state. Additionally, the inclusion of three technocrats—Muhammad Aurangzeb, Mohsin Naqvi, and Ahad Cheema.

The appointments were made in accordance with Clause 1 of Article 92 of the Constitution, which stipulates that the president appoints federal ministers and ministers of state from the members of Parliament on the advice of the prime minister, subject to the clauses outlined in Article 91.
