Fatima Bhutto was highly critical of the Melania’s Trump choice of outfit during her visit to Egypt. Fatima Bhutto in her recent Twitter post snapped at the US First Lady Melania Trump for donning menswear.
On Saturday, Melania Trump reached Egypt and was welcomed by the Egyptian President Abdel Fatih al-Sissi and his wife Entissar. As she walked out of the plane, Trump was seen dressed in slacks and a tie.
Many said Melania’s outfit reflected a colonial mindset that easily overshadowed the purpose of her visit, the welfare of the African children and women. Other remarked that wearing menswear in a country ranked worst for women’s rights in the entire Arab region was inappropriate.

Fatima Bhutto reprimanded Melania Trump for her outfit in her tweet.
“In the politics of fashion realm”? Is this for real? Melania helps Egyptian women by wearing a tie? Whitesplainers read a book sometime. Egyptian women have fought braver battles than most, they don’t need your ties.” said Bhutto.

It is preposterously entitled to assume that the country that produced @NawalElSaadawi1 is somehow uplifted by a white woman's fashion choices. This entitlement is a large part of what makes first world feminists so grating to the rest of the world

But when Melania was asked about her outfit by an Egyptian media outlet, she said that the discussion on her dressing was trivial since she was visiting Africa for a much greater purpose, she would like to talk about her trip. Here is what she said:
“I want to talk about my trip, not what I wear. That’s very important, what I do, what we’re doing with US aid, what I do with my initiatives, and I wish people would focus on what I do, not what I wear,”
Her choice of outfit became a hot topic of discussion on social media. Melania Trump garnered criticism on Twitter, while many schooled her to respect the Egyptian women.
