Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Fawad Chaudhry, has asked a Pakistani model and brand to apologize for a fashion shoot at Gurdwara Kartarpur that has hurt the sentiments of the Sikh community.
An Indian Sikh journalist, Ravinder Singh Robin, had shared the video of the Pakistani model shooting for a clothing brand at the religious site of Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib in Kartarpur Pakistan. In his video, he pointed out that the model reached the religious bareheaded and did a twirl and posed for the brand. The pictures were then uploaded on the social media account of the clothing brand.

He called the actions of the model and the clothing brand disrespectful as it has hurt the sentiments of the Sikh community and breached the sanctity of the religious site. In his tweet, he wrote, “Modelling bareheaded for ladies’ attire, in the premises of Gurdwara Sri Darbar Sahib at #KartarpurSahib in Pakistan, by a Lahorite woman, has several hurt the religious sentiments of Sikhs. Further, the pictures were uploaded on social media,” said the journalist.

He tagged Prime Minister Imran Khan and the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony in his tweet.
Fawad Chaudhry condemns the incident
Fawad Chaudhry also took notice of his tweet and condemned the incident. He demanded the clothing brand and model to apologize to the Sikh community.
“The Designer and the model must apologize to Sikh Community #KartarPurSahib is a religious symbol and not a Film set,” wrote Fawad Chaudhry in the tweet.
The journalist appreciated the concern of the Fawad Chaudhry. “Thank you so much, Minister @fawadchaudhry Ji. I appreciate your concern for the other religions,” said the journalist in response.

Pakistani netizens also condemned the act and opined that the sanctity of the religious sites should be respected. They have asked the government to catch the responsible as to who allowed the shoot at the religious sites. They argued that strict measures should be taken to ensure the respect and sanctity of the religious sites.
