Fawad Khan was awarded the ‘Best Cinematic’ Icon at an event in Dubai held last night. One of the UAE’s biggest corporation Danube re-launched its magazine ‘FilmFare Middle East’ at a glamorous event that was attended by A-lister celebrities from the Indian and Pakistani film industry.
The event was attended by ‘Padmaavat’ star Deepika Padukone, Jackie Shroff, Dia Mirza, Karan Johar, Manish Malhotra, Mehwish Hayat and others. Deepika Padukone became the first celebrity to feature in the covers of the first edition of the magazine. Later on, she walked down the ramp with Fawad Khan for designer Manish Malhotra.
The event in Dubai provided the platform to actors from both sides of borders to come together and interact with each other amid the ongoing ban on Pakistani artists in India. Along with Fawad Khan, the magazine also awarded Mehwish Hayat the ‘Best Pakistan Icon’.

As the pictures from the event flooded the internet, Fawad Khan’s picture with Manish Malhotra and Karan Johar attracted huge attention since people speculated of another possible collaboration between Karan Johar and Fawad Khan.
Fawad Khan starred in two of Karan Johar’s production including ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ and ‘Kapoor and Sons’ after making his Bollywood debut in ‘Khoobsorat’ alongside Sonam Kapoor in 2014.
When asked if Karan Johar will cast Fawad Khan again in his movies, he said he went through an ordeal when Hindu nationalists threatened him for casting a Pakistani actor in his movies. Karan Johar said he would never want to go through that ordeal again.
“You know what I went through. It was a tough time for me. I have a great regard for talent and I have a great regard for Fawad Khan’s talent which is why he’s been in two of our films. The circumstances we don’t know where we’re heading, and I think all great actors should find the best platforms and just like you I hope Fawad Khan finds the best platform because he’s a terrific actor. Having said that, I never want to go through what I went at that time.”
