The Frontier Corps (FC) has handed over the Government Girls Degree College in Wana, this week, to the district administration after renovation.
The building was grievously damaged during the anti-state activity in the region that had halted the education of girls in the area. FC had initiated the renovation of the building in early 2020. The college is now ready to resume classes for students.

IG FC South handed over the building to the administration of the college to the Dera Ismail Khan Division Commissioner who will manage its operation.

Director of Higher Education Commission KP, faculty members and leaders of the area attended the inaugural ceremony. IG FC South and Dera Ismail Khan Commissioner addressed the ceremony.

The building has 16 classrooms along with four labs including a fully-equipped computer lab, examination hall, and a multi-purpose hall. A playground has also been built on the premises, said the press release.

Wana is the largest town in the South Waziristan Agency in Pakistan. It is the summer headquarters for the Agency’s administration, Tank located in the neighboring Tank District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province being the winter headquarters. The area even has a small football ground where locals enjoy football matches often.
