Rising intolerance
The government of Pakistan is already investigating the matter of lynching and killing of a Sri Lankan factory manager in Sialkot on blasphemy charges. This is not the first incident of mob violence against alleged suspects of blasphemy. Several incidents of a violent mob beating the suspects to death have been reported in various cities of Pakistan.
In December last year, a disturbing video of a foreign factory manager being burned on the allegations of blasphemy in Sialkot, Pakistan has been making the rounds. The foreign factory manager from Sri Lanka has succumbed to his injuries, says the latest reports.
Video of people raising loud slogans following the incident circulated on social media. The man was allegedly burnt alive by a factory employee. He was working in a sportswear manufacturing factory.
The incident incited furor among social media users who condemned the incident. They urged the state officials to take action against the culprits and take measures to control the rising religious intolerance in Pakistan.
The incident had triggered a debate around the rising intolerance and rising radicalization of society. This is reportedly another incident of blasphemy reported within months of a major case.
