A foreign female tourist has been arrested in Dubai for mocking another woman for wearing hijab and niqab in a restaurant.
The video of the women went viral on social media in which they were seen laughing off at another woman with her hijab and niqab on besides them in a restaurant. They apparently shot the video of the woman and later laughed on her. Reports indicate the woman was dining with her husband when the incident occurred.
The video immediately gained traction on social media and garnered outrage from social media who urged authorities in Dubai to arrest the foreign female tourists. The outrage not only stem from filming the video of the woman having dinner but also from the derogatory remarks passed regarding her dressing in the video.

A woman shared a clip on X, writing, “In Dubai, a non-Muslim European woman films a Gulf tourist and mocks her religion. Where is Dubai Police? Why hasn’t she been arrested and referred to the Public Prosecution? Are there no laws to protect the dignity and privacy of Gulf tourists, prevent them from being photographed without consent, and stop such defamation? Where are human rights? Where is the respect for religious rituals?”
Another user commented that why did the women forget that they are in Dubai, a Muslim country. ” The question is, will these hideous creatures be held accountable for their provocative actions? The West and freedoms are just a myth. Like in the West, love only exists in stories and TV series,” the user said further.
Following the incident, Dubai police came into action and swiftly launched the investigation into the incident. In the official statement released on X, Dubai Police reiterated the commitment to ensure the respect for their people and culture.
“Dubai police have launched an investigation into tourists mocking a Muslim couple dining. The women have been detained. As the proverb goes: “When in Rome do as the Romans do” Emirati authorities once again demonstrate that they respect their own people and culture,” read the official statement on X.
