The negative social media campaign intensified after former Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry hinted that the PML-N government will launch a character assassination campaign against Imran Khan through fake videos and audios.

Furthermore, PTI leveled new accusations against PML-N of employing foreign technology companies to create “deep fake” videos of Imran Khan in a bid to tarnish his public image.

To clarify, “deep fake” is a colloquial term for manipulating videos and audios. The purpose of such videos is to warp reality and present a completely different picture.

Therefore, PTI accused PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz of using morphed videos of Imran Khan.

“Maryam Nawaz, whose reputation is due to fake receipts, fake trust deeds, and fake letters, reportedly made fake videos of several important political figures through deep fake technologies. But as always, humiliation will be her destiny,” PTI wrote along with a video explaining the use of “deep fake.”
