Speaking to Chinese Ambassador Nong Rong, Chairman FIEDMC Mian Kashif said the FIEDMC is a multifunctional organization supervising a number of industrial estates in Faisalabad Division including the most prosperous M3 Industrial Estate, Sahianwala, Faisalabad. The goal of FIEDMC currently is to complete projects on priority basis depending upon their value, added Chairman FIEDMC.

FIEDMC is in the process of developing the biggest CPEZ SEZ of Pakistan- Allama Iqbal Industrial City, at Sahianwala, Faisalabad, stated Mian Kashif. Technical Institute University is required and asked of support by Chinese Embassy & the Ambassador for the training of Chinese labour and upgradation of their skills for the future Chinese Industry.
The Chinese Ambassador praised initiatives like longer multiple visas for Chinese management and staff in Pakistan for 10 years and waiving off duty for Chinese Investors. It is also anticipated that organizing fairs in the long run and arranging webinars in the short run to attract Chinese investors like the FIEDMC Hong Kong webinar model would lay the foundations for success. CMEC-China Machinery & Engineering Corporation -China Pakistan Industrial Cooperation Platform Seminars and Workshops will be arranged in the second phase of the SEZ Industrial Collaboration.

Chinese Ambassador Nong Rong ensured the FIEDMC Chairman Mian Kashif that all issues discussed during the meeting would be addressed. Mian Kashif also requested the Chinese Ambassador to consider approving ACEG as a Developer Partner or suggest another construction company for the timely completion of the CPEC special economic zones. The Chinese Ambassador is expected to visit FIEDMC’s offices and estates when he travels to Lahore and Faisalabad next.

The SEZ’s are referred to as the lifelines of Pakistan’s industrial development as once operational, they would be able to create around 2 million jobs. They would also enhance exports and would help in uplifting several other sectors of the economy.
Allama Iqbal Industrial City- A model of excellence
Allama Iqbal Industrial City, which is one of the nine SEZ’s to be built in Pakistan under CPEC is being developed by FIEDMC. This SEZ was inaugurated by Prime Minister Imran Khan in January, 2020. Addressing the ground-breaking ceremony of the Allam Iqbal Industrial City, he said that Pakistan needs to have intensive industrialization for wealth creation. He further stated that the problem of unemployment can’t be solved by the agriculture-based economy of the country and that the industries need to take up this responsibility.

Allama Iqbal City is spread over 3217 acres of land and strategically located just opposite M-3 Industrial City. It has especially been designed to cater to the needs of the foreign investors, specifically the Chinese industrialists. FIEDMC’s Chairman Mr Mian Kashif Ashfaq stressed that local investors are also being provided with the same facilities and incentives as the foreign companies.

He also stated that 2300 acres of land has been allocated for setting up industrial units and most of the land has been sold out. M3 Industrial City and Allama Iqbal Industrial City are connected to M4 Motorway Sahianwala Interchange. FIEDMC believes that within one to two years, more companies would set up there which would significantly increase national exports.
