Five children among the seven killed in an early morning blast in Mastung on Friday. Chief Minister Balochistan Sarfraz Bugti condemned the killing of the children.
Division Commissioner Kalat Naeem Bazai said that a policeman was also martyred in the incident.
“So far, seven individuals have been martyred, including five school students and 17 others have sustained injuries,” Bazai confirmed to Dawn News. The blast happened at 8:30 AM, near Mastung Civil Hospital. “It appears that an IED (improvised explosive device) attached to a motorcycle was detonated near a police mobile,” Bazai noted.
The injured were being treated at the Nawab Ghous Bakhsh Raisani Memorial Hospital and Mastung District Headquarters Hospital. The blast left 17 people injured. Eleven of them were later transported to the Quetta Trauma Center.
Those shifted to Quetta included a five-year-old girl and a teenage boy, according to a list of patients issued by QTC Managing Director Arbab Kamran. Five of them were stated to be in a serious condition.
The Deputy Commissioner and Assistant Commissioner were inspecting the area of the incident. Bazai informed that the police had cordoned off the area to avoid further incidents. Deceased children aged between five and ten. A Police van and several auto-rickshaws were also injured in the blast, reported the DPO.

Chief Minister Bugti condemned the incident in a latest statement issued on X.
“Condolences to martyred policemen and the heirs of innocent children, terrorists have now targeted innocent children along with poor laborers, the humanitarian incident is condemnable, terrorists have now targeted innocent children in soft target, innocent children and innocent children. Sins will take account of the blood of the people, and the local people in the civilian population will also have to keep an eye on the terrorists, the monster of terrorism can be fought only together, said Bugti in his statement.
