While dead body of Sana (24) was brought to Holy Family hospital.

Although at the moment, reason of explosion has not been identified, rescue sources believe it can possibly be the gas cylinder explosion.

Keeping in view the report’s findings submitted by the committee, PM Khan sacked the managing directors of Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) and Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC).

Gas supply has been suspended for last five days in several areas of Rawalpindi. So far nine incidents of the gas explosion have been reported in last eight days, rescue sources informed GVS.

Prime Minister Imran Khan had earlier taken personal notice of the gas shortfall situation and constituted a committee headed by Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) chairperson Uzma Adil Khan in Dec, 2018 to submit report regarding the negligence of two gas companies– Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) and Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC).

The gas companies had failed to make a correct assessment of the demand and supply situation, which resulted in the gas shortfall. Also, according to the Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Ghulam Sarwar Khan, the said companies concealed information– pertinent to a fault faced by some of the gas compressors– from the government.
