FO reacts to the arrest of PTI leader Faheem Khan in Saudi Arabia

Pakistan's Foreign Office also reacted to his arrest. When asked in a press conference regarding his arrest, the Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Baloch said one must adhere and follow the rules when visiting another country.

PTI leader Faheem Khan releases a new video shortly after being released following his arrest in Saudi Arabia.

According to PTI, Faheem Khan was ‘arrested’ for recording a video regarding the May 9th events in front of Kaaba. In the said video, Faheem Khan asserted that “I am standing in front of Kaaba in Ihram state and I swear that the false propaganda of May 9 was spread against Imran Khan. Come to the Kaaba and take an oath and say that Imran Khan is included in it Awami MNA Faheem Khan.”

A PTI leader was reportedly arrested for filming a video on a political issue at Masjid Haram. However, he was released shortly afterward. Following his release, he posted a video online, joining the social media trend of recording silent clips that transition from a fearful expression to a smile.

Pakistan’s Foreign Office also reacted to his arrest. When asked in a press conference regarding his arrest, the Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Baloch said one must adhere and follow the rules when visiting another country.

When asked directly about Faheem Khan’s current status, Baloch clarified, “Your question is outdated; he is not in Saudi Arabia’s custody.” Pressed further on whether the Saudi authorities had released Khan, Baloch deflected, saying, “You are a journalist; confirm his arrest or release.”

PTI’s Karachi chapter accused that the arrest was at the request of the government of Pakistan.

Earlier, PTI leader from Sindh Haleem Adil Sheikh had asserted that they were in constant contact and were making measures for his release. Meanwhile, PTI leader Imran Khan, who has been in jail for the past year has called for a massive public rally in September.

The public rally has been announced for September 8th, 2024. He is urging people to join the rally in big numbers.
