Former coach Jason Gillespie calls Aqib Javed a ‘clown’

Jason Gillespie Accuses Aqib Javed of Undermining His Role in Pakistan Cricket Management

Former coach of Pakistan Cricket Team Jason Gillespie has accused current coach Aqib Javed of plotting and undermining his position in the management.

His statements came in response to Aqib Javed, who stated that players are unable to focus on performance due to constant changes in the team.

He accused Aqib Javed of running a ‘behind the scenes’ campaign against them to take over the role of head coach of the team. Gillespie was given the role of head coach following the abrupt departure of Gary Kirsten from the team. However, two months later Gillespie also resigned from the job.

Aqib Javed was serving as the head coach when Gary Kirsten and Jason Gillespie were performing their roles as the coaches of the team in white-ball and red-ball formats

However, a couple of months into their respective stints, Kirsten left his role in October last year after six months into his contract. Gillespie was later given the task of managing the team; however, he, too, could not sustain his position and left Pakistan Cricket.

Pakistan team crashed out in the group stage of ICC Champions Trophy. Team could not win a single match in the tournament and ended up last.

Responding to the criticism, Aqib Javed cited the constant changes in the management as the reason for the underperformance.

“This is hilarious. Aaqib was undermining Gary and me behind the scenes, campaigning to be the coach in all formats. He is a clown,” Gillespie shared on Instagram.

His statement has gone viral on social media, triggering a debate among cricket fans. Aqib Javed has not responded to these statements as of now.

However, his stint as the head coach has been extended till the New Zealand tour scheduled later this month. In the meantime, the Pakistan Cricket Board will find a new coach for the team.
