Former Director-General of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Bashir Memon, has officially announced his affiliation with the PMLN.
Memon, who had been at odds with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, revealed that Maryam Nawaz, the chief organizer of PML-N, has established a 12-member committee in Sindh. He has assumed the role of the convener of this committee, which has been tasked with welcoming Nawaz Sharif, the deposed prime minister, on his anticipated arrival in late October.
Notable figures like Muhammad Zubair, Nihal Hashmi, and Khil Das Kohistani are also part of this committee, which is responsible for organizing a grand welcome event for Nawaz Sharif.
Bashir Memon served as the Chief of the FIA from October 2018 to April 2020 before stepping down from the prestigious position. During his announcement, Memon made serious allegations against the Imran Khan-led PTI government. He claimed that the government had filed baseless cases against prominent PML-N members, including Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz, and Shehbaz Sharif. Furthermore, he accused federal ministers at the time of interfering in FIA’s investigations and manipulating evidence.

Memon went on to assert that he had faced undue pressure from Imran Khan, Farogh Naseem, and Shahzad Akbar to initiate a case against Justice Isa. In a shocking revelation, he also alleged that, at one point, he was physically confined in a washroom on the orders of Imran Khan following a heated exchange.
This move by Bashir Memon underscores the shifting political landscape in Pakistan and adds another layer of complexity to the country’s already intricate political dynamics.
Meanwhile, PMLN has announced the return of Nawaz Sharif to Pakistan from London in October. Party members are making repeated statements about his returns. They are also instructed to make arrangements and mobilize workers for a grand welcome of Nawaz Sharif.
