Furious friends of deceased Hunain set the school on fire in rage

A group of young boys, classmates of Hunain, ablaze the school building to avenge the death of Hunain, reportedly killed after subjected to hideous torture by school teacher. Conflicting reports emerged regarding the tragedy, however, Police says the actual reasons will be ascertained after investigations.

The furious friends of Hunain, a teenage student who was tortured to death by a schoolteacher, ablaze the private school in Gulshan-e-Ravi in angst.

As per the initial reports, a mob of charged students turned up with the bottles of petrol all of a sudden. The students threw petrol bottles on the school and set it on fire. Teacher Muhammad Kamran at the school tortured Hunain Bilal, a student of 10th grade, to death.

The heavy contingent of police was immediately dispatched while the fire brigade also rushed to the site. Iqbal Town Division SP Muhammad Ajmal added that the police brought the situation under control and arrested some of the attackers on the spot.

SP Ajmal added that most of the students were of the same school who vandalized the building. He said the fire was contained before it engulfed the entire building, only a few classrooms were damaged. Meanwhile, Police is searching for the culprit who provoked the underage students to set the building on fire.

The deployment of the police was intensified outside the school building to avoid any untoward incident.

“Protestors have dispersed due to the timely response of the police,” the SP said. The police arrested the schoolteacher shortly after he thrashed and tortured Hunain.

What Happened?

School teacher Muhammad Kamran, for not learning a lesson, mercilessly subjected Hunain to physical torture, quote Hunain’s classmates.

Police arrested the teacher immediately and the boy’s body was then shifted to the mortuary for a post-mortem examination.

“Investigations are underway and the facts will only emerge after the results of the post-mortem exam,” said Iqbal Town SP Mohammad Ajmal.

According to the police spokesperson, “the boy was taken to the hospital from the school but could not be revived”.

In the aftermath of the incident, Punjab’s education minister Murad Raas visited the family for the condolence. He asserted that there is a need to bring in legislation to curb such incidents.

“[We] will have to pass laws in the assembly to put an end to such incidents,” he said. “We will introduce laws that would require teachers to obtain a license [before entering the profession] just like doctors.”

Police added that the school principal was also arrested later on. Father of the deceased boy in the FIR alleged that the school administration had been mentally torturing his son over non-payment of the fees.

The FIR added that the teacher “punched [Hunain] repeatedly, grabbed his hair and hit his head against the wall, all the while yelling at him”. As a result, the boy collapsed in the classroom and died, added the report.

It was reported that the teacher had beaten students in the past and was fire, but returned six months later.
