Gal Gadot’s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony met with protests

Gal Gadot’s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony was disrupted by both pro-Israeli and pro-Palestinian protesters, leading to delays and police intervention. Demonstrators from both sides clashed, chanting slogans and holding signs, turning the event into a scene of political tension.

Israeli actor and Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot’s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony on Tuesday was disrupted by both pro-Israeli and pro-Palestinian protesters, leading to a delay and requiring police intervention, Variety reported.

Ahead of the event, demonstrators from both sides gathered, with pro-Palestinian protesters holding signs that read, “Heroes Fight Like Palestinians,” “Viva Viva Palestina,” and “No Other Land Won Oscar”—a reference to the recent Academy Award-winning documentary about Israeli actions in the West Bank. Despite the ceremony being tented off, similar to the premiere of Snow White, in which Gadot stars as the Evil Queen, the protests were not deterred.

Chants such as “Up up with liberation, down down with occupation” and “Not another nickel, not another dime, no more money for Israel’s crime” rang out from the crowd.

A pro-Palestinian protester told Variety, “We’re all really upset about what’s happening in Gaza right now. In the past 24 to 48 hours, 400 innocent people have been killed by the Israeli military, unprovoked. There’s no reason we should be celebrating an Israeli.” He added, “She has the ability to learn and read the same books that we read. There’s just no excuse.”

On the other side, Israeli supporters, including content creator Dana Nikri, waved Israeli flags. Nikri, whose friends attended the Nova Music Festival on October 7, 2023, said they were “murdered.” She told Variety, “They come to our home and take us from our home and give us dead children,” emphasizing, “We don’t start war, we don’t want war at all.”
