Gilgit reports zero active cases of Covid-19

The daily Covid-19 situation report shows that along with Gilgit, Astore, Diamer, Ghizer, Hunza, Kharmang, Nagar, and Skardu have also reported zero active cases of Covid-19.

The Gilgit district of Pakistan currently has zero active cases of Covid-19, informed Deputy Commissioner of Gilgit, Naveed Ahmed.

Naveed Ahmed broke this news on Twitter by sharing a daily situation report of Covid-19 formulated by the Provincial Emergency Operation Center and the Health Department of Gilgit Baltistan.

The Deputy Commissioner lauded the historic achievement and wrote “Alhamdulillah! Gilgit is Covid-19 free finally.”

The Home Secretary of Gilgit-Baltistan, Muhammad Ali Randhawa also shared Naveed Ahmed’s tweet and thanked Allah for this extraordinary achievement.

He further went on to appreciate the tireless efforts of all the frontline workers who have shown unwavering courage and dedication to combat the deadly virus. Muhammad Ali Randhawa further advised everyone to take proper precautions and follow the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Covid-19.

On Tuesday, Pakistan commenced its Covid-19 vaccination drive, where one doctor was administered the Covid-19 vaccine.

Pakistan received its first batch of Sinopharm vaccine on Monday. A Pakistan Air Force (PAF) plane IL-76, landed in Nur Khan PAF base, Rawalpindi, with 0.5 million doses of vaccine gifted to Pakistan by China.

Dr. Faisal Sultan, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on National Health Services, was present at the Nur base to receive the Sinopharm vaccine. Frontline health workers and others employed in hospitals, medical facilities, etc across the country, will be administered the vaccine first.

Upon the vaccine arrival, Dr. Faisal Sultan took to Twitter to express his gratitude to China, the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), and all the frontline workers for their tireless contributions during the Covid-19 pandemic.

He stated, “Alhamdulliah we got the first batch of Sinopharm vaccines! Thank you to everyone who worked tirelessly for this. The NCOC and the provinces played a key role in countering COVID. I salute my front line healthcare workers for their efforts. They will be the first to get the vaccine.”

Dr. Faisal Sultan while addressing the press at the launch of Pakistan’s vaccination campaign informed that the Sinopharm vaccine will have a few harmless side effects such as fever and body aches. However, there is nothing to worry about as this is completely normal and shows that the vaccine is actually working its charm, he added.
