The Federal government will approach the Lahore High Court (LHC) to file a petition against PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif regarding PML-N supremo and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s return.
It appears as if the government has had enough. According to sources, if Nawaz Sharif does not return soon, the government will request legal action against Shehbaz Sharif. To clarify, Shehbaz Sharif submitted an affidavit to LHC, assuring that Nawaz Sharif will return to Pakistan after his full recovery.
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) suspended Nawaz Sharif’s sentence on medical grounds for eight weeks in the Al-Azizia reference case. Moreover, the federal cabinet gave Nawaz Sharif conditional permission to leave the country. As a result, the LHC allowed Nawaz Sharif to go abroad for medical treatment. Important to note, all this happened in 2019.

“Talks were being held with the UK authorities for the extradition of the accused,” the minister said.
“Nawaz Sharif is a fugitive so his return will not be honorable, his return will be like a prisoner.

PML-N hints at Nawaz’s return?
On the other hand, the PML-N camp has been consistently dropping hints that Nawaz Sharif will return and expressed full confidence that the former prime minister will oust the PTI government.
Regarding this, the Senior Representative of PML-N Ayaz Sadiq said that Nawaz Sharif will return to Pakistan soon.
“Inshallah Mian Nawaz Sharif will soon return. This time I will go to London to bring him back,” Ayaz Sadiq said. Interestingly, Ayaz Sadiq also hinted that Pakistan’s politics might see a new twist.
“You can see from my smile that something is about to happen,” Ayaz Sadiq said.
Similarly, journalist Azhar Javed, during a private channel show revealed that Nawaz Sharif only talks about returning to Pakistan. While not giving a specific date, Azhar Javed said it is possible Nawaz Sharif may return to Pakistan in Feb-March 2022.

Meanwhile, prior to Ayaz Sadiq’s confident claims, PML-N vice president Maryam Nawaz too hinted at her father’s return. In a media talk outside Islamabad High Court, Maryam Nawaz said that her father is desperate to return to the country and will do so soon.
“Imran Khan’s time has come to an end. He is stuck under the burden of his own performance and can’t stay in power for long,” the PML-N remarked. She was referring to PTI’s recent defeat in the 2021 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Local Government Elections.
On the other hand, experts believe it is still unlikely that Nawaz Sharif will return voluntarily owing to the criminal charges against him.
