Hadiqa Kiani pays tribute to Dirilis Ertugrul with a Turkish song

Pakistani singer Hadiqa Kiani pays tribute to Turkish drama serial Dirilis Ertugrul with a Turkish song that she sang back in 2005 at the AKM Opera House. The singer released a video of her song on all her social media accounts. The song features Hadiqa Kiani. She reprised the Turkish song she sang at the Opera House with scenes from the serial Dirilis Ertugrul.

Hadiqa Kiani shares video of Turkish song

Hadiqa Kiani took to social media and wrote, “Something very very special coming soon,” a few days ago.

“In 2005, I had the honor of singing the Turkish song Sen Ağlama at the AKM Opera House,” she tweeted. “Today, I have remastered that song as a tribute to series Diriliş: Ertuğrul, Sezen Aksu and to the people of Turkey,” wrote the singer. She went on to add, “May our love and bond be forever strong.”

“The love between Turkey and Pakistan is unlike the love of any other country,” the singer’s team shared a statement. The statement also revealed her mother’s ancestors belong to Izmir, Turkey.

“She has had an affinity for the country since her childhood. As a child prodigy, Kiani represented Pakistan in the International Children’s Festival in Turkey and as an adult in 2005 she returned to the great country to once again represent Pakistan at the iconic Atatürk Cultural Center and Opera House,” it further read.

“The biggest surprise for the audience was said to be when Kiani sang Sen Ağlama (Turkish song of Living Legend Sezen Aksu) to a standing ovation from the audience.” Moreover, it added that she told people as Turkey stood beside Pakistan in good and bad times, she wanted to convey the love of Pakistani people for the Turks.

The statement said, “Now in 2020, a new milestone in the relationship between Pakistan and Turkey was cemented by the mammoth success of Ertuğrul in Pakistan. The statement added that it is the right time to pay public tribute to the Turkish nation.

Hadiqa Kiani garnered massive appreciation from her fans and followers on social media as she paid tribute to Dirilis Ertugrul.

Also, a Turkish politician, Ali Sahin, shared the video of the song on his social media account. He appreciated the efforts of Hadiqa Kiani in a tweet.

“Thank you Hadiqa. It was an honor for us to listen to the song we love, from the singer we love, from the people we love, from the country we love,” wrote the politician on Twitter.

Ertugrul gets a statue 

13th century Muslim Oghuz Turk leader Ertugrul Ghazi got a statue at Multan Road in the Maraghzar Housing Scheme. Turkish drama ‘Dirilis (Resurrection) Ertugrul’ inspired the statue. The serial covers the entire life of the Oghuz leader. Muhammad Shahzad Cheema, the president of the Maraghzar Housing Scheme, said he erected the statue to pay Ertugrul a tribute.

Fans even refer to the serial as ‘Turkish Game of Thrones. The serial took the international audience by storm with President of Venezuela also turning out to be its follower. The serial began its broadcast in Turkey in 2014. But within Turkey, its part of AKP’s nation-building project and is perhaps the most popular TV production in recent years. However, despite its unwavering popularity across the Muslim world and the Middle East, Egypt and Gulf countries banned the Dirilis Ertugrul. Since they view it a part of the AKP’s quest to revive the Ottoman empire.
