The Consumers Association of Pakistan (CAP) has awarded the best CEO of the year award 2018 to Hamdard Laboratories Chief Executive (Waqf) Mr. Usama Qureshi. Mr. Qureshi joined the eastern Medicinal conglomerate in February 2017, having had an illustrious 22-year long career in management, operations, finance, strategic planning, and marketing.
Mr. Qureshi, played an integral role in rebranding the corporate image of Hamdard Laboratories (Waqf) Pakistan by modifying and introducing new products for the company, which was otherwise most famously known for its Root Afza.
Under Mr. Qureshi’s guiding leadership, Hamdard Laboratories has gone through various formative changes. the company has expanded its overseas presence, redefined strategy and plans, strong digital and social media presence and focus, modern packaging, category expansion, technological innovation; a radical transformation journey for a sustainable boost in business results.

To achieve results, Hamdard comprehensively worked on a highly disciplined methodology and was able to see increase in sales of over 30%; with increased exports along with its global presence in 38 countries now. Hamdard took on a completely new look by changing its logo and celebrating the achievement doing a corporate launch and a successful trade launch in Lahore that was attended by distributors.

The most visible changes, were seen in the modernization of Rooh Afza, as it was taken to New York, Toronto, and London celebrating national days. Hamdard Laboratories (Waqf) is a non-profit research organization devoted to developing eastern medicine and was established in 1906 in British India. After the partition of India and Pakistan, a branch was established in Karachi in 1947.
Hamdard group comprises research laboratories, pharmaceutical industries, educational complexes, publications, and think tanks. The Hamdard educational complex Madinat-al-Hikmah’s library Bait-al-Hikmah is also a constituent part. This is one of the biggest and best-stocked libraries in Pakistan. Recently, Hamdard commemorated its founder, the iconic scholar and educationist Shaheed Hakeem Muhammad Saeed, GVS earlier reported.

Hakeem Saeed was a former Governor of Sindh and the patron of Hamdard University. The University organized a three-day book fair from 16th October to 18th October at Hamdard University Library, Karachi to commemorate Hakim Muhammad Saeed Shaheed, one of the most influential scholars, thinkers, and philanthropists in Pakistan’s history. The event was structured around various literary activities including a poetry recital.
