Hamza Ali Abbasi to return to TV after ‘spiritual break’ from acting

Earlier this year, Abbasi had said that he had not quit acting, but would take a temporary break to focus on religion and spirituality.

Actor Hamza Ali Abbasi last week announced that he was returning to the TV screen in an online interview with fellow entertainer Ahmed Ali Butt.

After a long hiatus from the entertainment industry, Abbasi says he is planning to return to the TV screen with two projects. However, he did not reveal the details of his upcoming ventures in the show.

Earlier this year, Abbasi had said that he had not quit acting, but would take a temporary break to focus on religion and spirituality.

He had made the comments while responding to a Twitter user who said that fans would miss Abbasi on the screen after news spread that Abbasi had quit acting. The actor cleared the misunderstanding that he had not quit acting but had taken a brief break and he would soon be back on screen.

He recalled his announcement made in a YouTube video last November that moving forward, he would appear in projects that align with the teachings of Islam.

“As I said in my video, I haven’t quit acting because I don’t see it anywhere in as being haraam in itself. I just took a long break from acting to give more time to religion,” he said in the show.

He went on to say that he “will make – and maybe act – in projects made within boundaries Allah has set for us.”

Abbasi last appeared in drama serial ‘Alif’ with actress Sajal Aly. His movie The Legends of Maula Jutt is set to release soon in the cinemas.
