Heatwave and Thunderstorm Alert for Punjab

PDMA Director General Irfan Kathia emphasized the need for caution among the public due to the potential risks associated with both the heatwave and heavy rainfall.

Punjab’s Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) issued a warning on Wednesday about an impending heatwave expected to hit the province from today. According to PDMA, temperatures are projected to rise by three to five degrees Celsius from May 8 to May 10. Additionally, thunderstorms and heavy rains are forecasted for the region during the ongoing week.

PDMA Director General Irfan Kathia emphasized the need for caution among the public due to the potential risks associated with both the heatwave and heavy rainfall. He highlighted the threat posed to various crops by thunderstorms, especially in South Punjab, which is expected to experience substantial rainfall from May 10 to 11.

The district administrations throughout Punjab have been alerted about the evolving weather situation, urging them to take necessary precautions. Kathia advised people to stay vigilant and prepared for the changing weather conditions, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding lives and property.

The PMD forecasted rain, dust storms, and thunderstorms in several areas, including Murree, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, and others, from May 10 to 12. Meanwhile, other regions like Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Bahawalpur, and others are expected to receive downpours on May 10 and 11.
