Honda’s New Hybrid Civic: Sleek Design, Better Mileage

Honda unveils the 2025 Civic with a fresh design and upgraded powertrain for better performance and fuel economy. Now available in two new hybrid trims, it's perfect for eco-conscious and performance-focused drivers.

Honda is bringing some exciting changes to the 2025 Civic lineup. They’re adding two new hybrid versions: the Sport Hybrid and Sport Touring Hybrid. These cars have a powerful mix of electric motors and a 2.0-liter engine, giving them 200 horsepower and 314 Nm of torque. That makes them the strongest non-Type-R Civics ever made, even stronger than the Civic Si.

Honda says these hybrids are better than the older 1.5-liter turbocharged models, except for the Si. They expect the new hybrids to get around 21 kilometers per liter, which is much better than the 15 kilometers per liter of the older Civics. Plus, these hybrid cars have fancy brakes that save energy and a special suspension system that makes them super quiet.

The new Civic looks a bit different too. It has smaller holes in the front and a bigger grille. The hybrid versions have headlights and a spoiler that match the color of the car. All Civics have darker taillights now, and there are new colors like Solar Silver, Urban Gray, Blue Lagoon, and Sand Dune.

Inside, the hybrid versions have a fancy gray interior. The fanciest one, the Sport Touring Hybrid, has leather seats, a cool sound system with 12 speakers, and a big 9-inch screen for the radio. It even has Google built-in, which is new for Civic cars.

Lance Woelfer, Honda’s assistant vice president of Honda National Auto Sales, emphasized the significance of the new Civic hybrid in Honda’s lineup, particularly with the increasing popularity of hybrid-electric vehicles. He views it as a pivotal step towards achieving Honda’s goal of 100 percent zero-emissions vehicle sales by 2040.

Starting in June, you can get the 2025 Civic at Honda dealerships. They’ll start with the sedan models. The hybrid ones will be available as sedans and hatchbacks. And the LX and Sport models, which don’t have electric engines, will still be sold, but they’ll be cheaper. We’ll know how much they cost later this year.
