Huge embezzlements in the zakat funds have come to known by the Zakat and Ushr Department’s report on Tuesday saying city hospitals were doled out massive funds in the name of medical procedures for charity.
Using scammed medical reports and prescriptions, the hospitals have swindled the zakat funds from the department, the report claimed.
Millions were trickled from the funds originally designated for the poorest of the poor to reassure them of medicine.
The DHQ Jhang hospital was given Rs5.5 million in the name of charitable funds while THQ Shorkot hospital was funneled Rs700,000.
For the six months of the ongoing financial year, the department has released Rs2,756,210 for the charity purpose which it said was designated for the poor and low-income class people for their medications.
However, with the connivance of Jhang’s Social Welfare Officer and an official of DHQ hospital, the misappropriation of funds was carried out, the report noted.
PTI government ‘the most corrupt regime’ in the history of Pakistan

PTI’s own auditor general admitted irregularities worth Rs270 billion, he said. The PPP chairman questioned if the people had forgotten Aleema Khan’s sewing machine.
Bilawal claimed that every member of PM Khan’s cabinet is involved in corruption. He said corruption is widespread in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Therefore, PTI government ‘the most corrupt regime’, he maintained.

People were robbed by means of sugar, wheat and oil crises, he noted. The PPP chairman demanded the National Accountability Bureau identify the ones involved in these mega corruption scandals.
“Son of Asif Ali Zardari is talking about corruption?”
Reacting to the press conference of Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Minister for Communications and Postal Services Murad Saeed, said that the “son of Asif Ali Zardari” was blaming PTI when his entire family was involved in taking kickbacks and corruption.
Addressing a press conference, he alleged that Bilawal became a politician on a “chit” and the ruling party understood that he was upset because his party has had to answer questions pointed out in the Joint Investigation Report (JIT) on the chief of defunct Peoples Amn Committee, Uzair Baloch.
He said that PTI accepts the challenge of Bilawal for a debate on governance and other issues of public importance. “We are ready for debate of his (Bilawal) own choice of topic and place,” he said, adding that whether this discussion should be in the Parliament, in a public gathering, or before media. He said that they would hold the debate so that the nation could understand the difference between “those politicians who have come on a chit and who were political workers.”
Saeed further said that they were hopeful that Bilawal would not evade queries as he usually used to do in the Parliament. “He doesn’t dare to hear about his government’s performance in the Parliament.”
