I will definitely come back, my return is imminent: Imran Khan

Imran Khan talked to media in Adiala Jail and made some shocking statements.

“Pakistan is currently under the control of opportunists. One such individual, Sikandar Sultan Raja, orchestrated the rigging of the 2024 elections. He should be held accountable under Article 6 to prevent such actions in the future. Similarly, Mohsin Naqvi’s rapid rise and accumulation of high-ranking positions is questionable. How can someone who simply follows orders, without independent thought, be considered an expert in security, foreign affairs, internal matters, and even cricket?

On February 8, the people of Pakistan took to the streets nationwide to protest against the blatant theft of their mandate. A party that secured only 17 seats has been placed in power, forcing a “rude government” onto the nation—one that is systematically destroying Pakistan’s institutions.

I fully support the call by bar associations and lawyers across Pakistan on February 10 for judicial independence. Stability in the country is impossible without the rule of law, and true rule of law cannot exist without an independent judiciary. The manner in which the Constitution and legal framework have been violated—particularly with attempts to control the judiciary through the Twenty-Sixth Constitutional Amendment—has fueled deep resentment among the people.

The current system appears to be actively working against democracy. Every day, new measures are taken that contradict democratic principles. Traditional media is already under suppression, and now, with the passage of the draconian PECA law, the last remaining platform for public expression—social media—is also being muzzled. This blatant attempt at censorship will only push Pakistan closer to international sanctions.

If PECA is to be enforced, it should first be applied to Shahbaz Sharif, who not only called the most rigged elections in the country’s history “free and fair” but also denied the November 26 massacre, falsely claiming that no shots were fired and no lives were lost. He should be the first to face consequences under this law.

Those who lack integrity fear neutral oversight. Since the regime itself is implicated in the incidents of May 9 and November 26, we cannot expect a fair and transparent judicial commission from them. We demand its formation because we seek justice, but those guilty of wrongdoing do not want the truth to be revealed.

Under the 18th Amendment, the appointment of the IG and Chief Secretary of a province is the prerogative of the provincial government. However, in clear violation of the Constitution, the federal government disregarded the three names proposed by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and unilaterally appointed an IG of their choosing.

I am giving specific instructions to Ali Amin—it is your duty to safeguard the rights of the people of this province. In the remaining three provinces, our workers are already facing brutal repression. If similar injustices occur in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the responsibility will fall on the provincial government and Chief Minister. Any abuse against our workers must be met with immediate action, and the IG must be removed.”
