Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Sharmila Farooqi, on Thursday, remembered the suffering of her own father who was incarcerated by the then Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. Reminding Maryam Nawaz of her father’s ordeal at the hands of the former premier, she wished Nawaz Sharif “good health and a long life”.
Taking to Twitter, Sharmila lamented that her father Usman Farooqi, was not allowed medical treatment despite his critical condition the then Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government.

Sharmila shared that her father, who was the former Chairman of the Pakistan Steel Mills, had to return to jail merely three days after he underwent an open heart surgery.
Sharmila’s tweet stated, “My father was denied med treatment in jail. He had his open heart surgery in custody, was taken back to jail 3 days after the surgery.”

The PPP leader continued, “I used to cry for his life & health… Never got any respite from Mian Nawaz Sharif. I still wish him good health & long life… I feel for Maryam Nawaz.”
Social media is ripe with tweets and posts pouring in concern and prayers for the deteriorating health condition of the former Prime Minister. Twitteratis, wishing him good health and recovery, also reminded the PML-N leadership of the vicious cycle of karma as what goes around, always comes back around.
Many users shared the ordeal of Jemima Goldsmith, who had to undergo the trauma of facing potential smuggling charges and eventually left the country due to the vindictive politics of the then Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

Earlier this week, the incarcerated premier was moved to the Services Hospital from Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat Jail after his platelet count reduced alarmingly. Reports reveal that he has undergone relevant medical tests to identify the cause for the platelet reduction, and he is being administered medications to normalize his health.
