IHC forms larger bench to hear Tyrian White plea against Imran Khan

Justice Aamer Farooq said he was making a larger bench to hear the reservations of the petitioner and the defendant. He adjourned the hearing till Feb 9.

In a major development, Islamabad High Court has formed a larger bench to hear a petition seeking the disqualification of PTI Chairman and former Prime Minister Imran Khan for not mentioning “his daughter Tyrian Jade White” in his nomination papers.

According to the details, Chief Justice Aamir Farooq heard the case. A petition had been filed earlier which contended that Imran Khan had disclosed his two sons and not his alleged daughter Tyrian White in the nomination papers. The petition sought the disqualification of the former premier under Article 62(i)(f).

Imran Khan had submitted his reply, arguing that the case was inadmissible as he no longer held a public office. He also added that the IHC had earlier quashed an identical case against him.

During today’s hearing, Justice Aamer Farooq remarked that the court would confirm from the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) the status of Imran Khan’s public office. Later, the chief justice said he was making a larger bench to hear the reservations of the petitioner and the defendant. He adjourned the hearing till Feb 9.

Tyrian White is the alleged daughter of former Prime Minister Imran Khan who is believed to be born out of wedlock. Back in 1997, a California court issued a default judgment declaring Tyrian as the daughter of the former Pakistan cricketer turned politician as he had refused to submit a DNA test to claim otherwise.

Imran Khan has allegedly never claimed Tyrian as his child. She resides in London and Imran Khan’s former wife Jemima Khan has been seen often meeting her and sharing pictures with her on social media.

In 2019, the IHC threw out a petition that sought disqualification of Prime Minister Imran Khan on the plea of the premier having concealed the parentage of his alleged daughter Tyrian Jade Khan White and the bench warned the petitioner that a fine would be imposed if a similar petition is received in the future.
