Imaan Mazari, husband Hadi Ali arrested by Islamabad Police

A case has been registered against them, and Imaan Mazari has been transferred to the women's police station.

Islamabad Police arrest lawyer Imaan Mazari and her husband Hadi Ali on Monday. They are being arrested allegedly for interfering with the actions and duties of the Police.

According to the spokesperson of the Islamabad Police, the couple has been taken into custody by Aabpara Police for obstructing official duties. A case has been registered against them, and Imaan Mazari has been transferred to the women’s police station.

Police claim that the couple posed a security risk during the visit of the foreign cricket team to Pakistan. Police claim that arrest is made according to the law and regulations.

Last week, a video of the couple emerged on social media in which they were trying to cross the security protocol set in place for the England Cricket Team. The traffic was stopped as the team was about to pass, and both husband and wife tried to remove the barriers to pass the security protocol. When asked they claimed that they were getting late for the court hearing. Both Pakistan Cricket Team and England Cricket Team were staying in Islamabad for a Test match at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

“Imaan Mazari has been arrested this morning. State fascism is in full swing. On Friday at the road barrier, @ICT_Police swung the steel barrier delib into her assaulting her as videos show & injuring her. Who will hold police accountable 4 terrorism? @MohsinnaqviC42 shameful coward!,” said Imaan Mazari’s mother Shireen Mazari.

This is not the first time, Imaan Mazari, has been held by Islamabad Police. Last year, she was arrested in a sedition case. She was earlier arrested in 2022 for using objectionable language against Pakistan Army following the arrest of her mother Shireen Mazari. It was stated in the FIR that Mazari-Hazir had made derogatory and hateful statement against the senior leadership of army on May 21, when her mother was arrested by the police in a land-ownership and transfer case.
