Former Chief Selector Imad Wasim says cricketer Imad Wasim lied about his injury. Commenting on the team’s performance in the T20 World Cup match against India.
The entire team was severely criticized on social media after losing the match to India from a winning position. Talking on a sports show on Samaa Television, Wasim said that Imad lied about his injury. He has actually suffering from knee injury for more than six years now.
He is lying about his rib injury. Everybody knows his knee injury is a concurrent issue. Adding that this also talks about the level of fitness and transparency in the team.
“If there is a compromise on fitness, then the results will be the same,” Muhammad Wasim stated.
He also lamented the current state of unity and cohesion in the team. “Two years ago, the team was united. With the entry of certain people, the atmosphere and results of the team are in front of everyone,” he remarked.
The inclusion of Imad Wasim in the team was already doubtful due to his injury. He was ruled out of the world cup due to his injury. But after losing the match to the USA, the team management was adamant about including him in the squad to strengthen the spinning department of the team and fill the place of an all-rounder.
However, the name Mehran Mumtaz has been on the card to replace him for future matches. Sources say, Mehran Mumtaz can be called in at any time to replace Imad Wasim in the squad.
The chances of Pakistan qualifying to the Super 8’s are dim following two consecutive defeats against the USA and India. Pakistan needs to win its remaining two matches with a big NRR to qualify for the Super 8. It also needs India and Ireland to beat the USA.
