Imran khan and Nawaz Sharif will contest elections: Places announced

During a media briefing outside Adiala Jail today, Barrister Ali Zafar conveyed Imran Khan’s announcement of his intention to participate in the upcoming elections, revealing plans to contest from a minimum of three constituencies across Pakistan. Barrister Zafar highlighted the imminent release of the Islamabad High Court’s (IHC) verdict on Imran Khan’s petition challenging his conviction in the Toshakhana case. Emphasizing the urgency, he expressed hope for a swift judgment given the release of the election schedule and expressed optimism that the verdict would favor Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party.

Barrister Gohar, also present at the media briefing, assured that Imran Khan would receive his nomination papers the following day, affirming Khan’s determination to participate in the polls, contingent upon divine will. Gohar specified that the PTI, being the largest political party in the country, would see its former chairman contesting elections from Lahore, Mianwali, and Islamabad.

In an interaction with journalists, Captain Safdar disclosed that Nawaz Sharif will contest the general elections from the NA-15 constituency in Mansehra. He underscored Nawaz Sharif’s commitment to address the long standing issues and deprivations of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) spanning over 24 years. Additionally, Safdar mentioned that his wife, Maryam Nawaz, would be vying for seats in both the national and provincial assemblies from Punjab, clarifying that he himself would not be participating in the polls.
