Imran Khan never requested to meet Army Chief: Fawad Chaudhry

The claims made by Kamran Khan on COAS Asim Munir are going viral on social media. However, PTI Senior Vice President Fawad Chaudhry has debased the claim which has again become a point of controversy as Imran Khan had previously said that he was ready to talk to Gen Munir “for the betterment of the country”.

PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry has debunked the reports claiming that Chairman and former Prime Minister Imran Khan requested a meeting with the current Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Asim Munir.

In a tweet, the former information minister clarified that neither the PTI chief nor any representatives has ever approached Imran Khan with any suggestion of the army chief for meeting Shehbaz Sharif”.

“Chairman Imran Khan has never made any request to meet Army chief or any of his representatives likewise President has never approached Chairman PTI with any suggestion of Army Chief for meeting Shahbaz Sharif, speculations in this regard are baseless,” Fawad Chaudhry said.

Earlier, senior journalist Kamran Khan tweeted that he had sent a message to ex-premier Imran through President Dr Arif Alvi for meeting the prime minister which the PTI chairman did not agree to.

On the other hand, Kamran Khan further claimed that Imran Khan did desire a meeting with the army chief which the latter denied, saying he was not ready to interfere in the political process.

However, PTI Senior Vice President Fawad Chaudhry has debased the claim which has again become a point of controversy as Imran Khan had previously said that he was ready to talk to Gen Munir “for the betterment of the country”, stressing he had “no quarrel with the establishment”.

While talking to the senior journalists at the Zaman Park residence, Imran Khan said that he will not surrender before anyone and he is not fighting with the establishment but he can do nothing if someone is not ready to talk.

He asked the army chief to find any corruption case against him and also alleged that former COAS Qamar Javed Bajwa had stabbed him in the back and he should face a court martial.
