Former Prime Minister Imran Khan could not attend the Eid congregational prayer in Adiala jail over alleged security concerns. He missed the Eid prayers for the third consecutive time.
Eid prayer was held at the Central Mosque of Adiala jail, where jail inmates offered Eid prayers together. His wife, Bushra Bibi, also remained in his jail confinement.
Ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr prayers, Imran Khan received a parcel from his home that included four new outfits, a waistcoat, and a pair of shoes. However, he did not wear new outfits and spent his time in jail indulging in prayers in his cell.
According to the jail authorities, they did not receive any formal request from his family or party members for a meeting on the first day of Eid. Most of his party members met him on the second and third day of Eid ul-Fitr.
His sister, Aleema Kha,n protested against not being allowed to meet Imran Khan on Eid. She asked how the party members were given access to him and his family was not.
“We were categorically told by jail authorities that “during gazetted holidays, family will not be allowed to meet Imran Khan”, she said in a tweet.
