Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan refused to meet with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) cyber crime team that visited Adiala Jail late Thursday night, according to sources cited by Geo News.
Sources within Adiala Jail reported that the former prime minister declined to participate in the FIA investigation concerning his controversial social media post on X, formerly known as Twitter. Khan stated, “I will answer any questions in the presence of lawyers,” and refused to answer the FIA team’s questions. The team documented his response in writing.

This development follows the FIA cyber crime wing’s decision on Thursday to take action against Khan for a controversial tweet attributed to him. The tweet urged every Pakistani to study the Hamood ur Rahman Commission Report to discern who the true traitor was: General Yahya Khan or Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar claimed that Khan was not aware of the tweet’s content. Gohar defended the tweet, saying it was taken out of context and intended as a political comparison, not a critique of the army. The former ruling party also defended the post, explaining that the reference to 1971 events was meant as a historical lesson.
The tweet attracted significant criticism, including from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who stated that Khan’s true character had been revealed.
FIA sources informed Geo News that action was prompted by a “propaganda video” involving Mujeeb, uploaded from Khan’s account on May 26. They noted that while Khan is in jail, his account continues to post such videos. The FIA cyber wing plans to question four PTI members regarding this issue: Khan, Gohar, PTI Information Secretary Raoof Hasan, and Secretary-General Omar Ayub.

The agency aims to determine whether Khan personally uploaded the post or if it was done with his consent, and to identify the creator of the “anti-Pakistan propaganda” video. If Khan is found responsible, legal action will be taken. If not, he will need to request the closure of his X account.
