Monday, the LHC gave Imran Khan the last chance to appear before it by 5pm in a case pertaining to a protest outside the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). Justice Sheikh in his remarks asked Imran Khan’s counsel to ensure his presence in the court.
As Imran Khan’s in-person appearance was expected, reports also emerged that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had decided to arrest him in the prohibited funding case. Media reports claimed that the FIA had sent a summary of the matter to DG FIA and had also constituted a four-member team.
The Lahore police would assist the FIA team during the arrest of Imran Khan who would then have been handed over to FIA Islamabad team. A large contingent of police personnel was also deployed at the main gate of the LHC.
Amid fears of the arrest of their leader, PTI workers, and supporters crowded Lahore High Court as they expressed their solidarity with Imran Khan. Videos from Lahore High Court went viral on social media where PTI workers could be heard chanting slogans in support of Imran Khan.
