Speaking about India’s history of ‘hatching conspiracies against Pakistan’, yesterday President Dr. Arif Alvi said that over the last many years India has indulged in this anti-Pakistan rhetoric. He said that trying to take the focus away from its ailing economy, India was attempting various means of destabilizing Pakistan including spreading propaganda.

The political forces in Pakistan should also realize this fact, get united for the country’s sake, and instead of maligning the state institutions should stand behind them, he added. The president expressed these views in an interview with a private television channel.
He said India, which through its conspiracies in East Pakistan had divided the country in the past – a fact also recognized by Indra Gandhi and Narendra Modi, was still continuing its attempts to destabilize the country through various means.
India has disputes with all its neighbors
The president said India, which had been playing the role of a spoiler in Afghanistan, had problems with all its neighbors, including China, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Nepal, and had boosted its defense budget to US$ 52 billion.

Besides creating problems in Balochistan through its spies like Kulbhushan Jadhav, India was also trying to create unrest in Karachi, he said, adding the people belonging to Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) led by Altaf Hussain had also accepted the Indian involvement in creating problems in the megacity.
President Alvi also referred to a recent report published in the Foreign Policy Magazine and said the Indian state-terrorism had been exposed in the world.
To a question, he said the economic activities in Pakistan, which was now becoming the geostrategic economic hub of the region, were affected by the political activities like the last year’s rally of Maulana Fazlur Rehman, that also hurt the Kashmir cause.
Global network of Indian propaganda websites discovered last year
A global network of pro-Indian fake websites and think-tanks is aimed at influencing decision-making in Europe, researchers said last year, reported BBC News.
The co-ordinated network of 265 sites operates across 65 countries, according to a report by EU Disinfo Lab, a Brussels-based NGO.
The researchers traced the Indian propaganda websites to an Indian company, Srivastava Group.

The network was also found to involve groups responsible for anti-Pakistan lobbying events in Europe.
But researchers believe the network’s purpose is to disseminate propaganda against India’s neighbor, Pakistan, the report had read.
“More than the fake media outlets alone, it is their combination with the fake NGOs that’s really worrying because it provides a mirage of online and grassroots support to a cause. That’s exactly where the disinformation lies,” Alexandre Alaphilippe, executive director of EU Disinfo Lab, had told the BBC.
