India should come to play ICC Champions Trophy in Pakistan: Nawaz Sharif

Former Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif says that the Indian Cricket Team should visit Pakistan to play in the ICC Champions Trophy. Pakistan is set to host the ICC Champions Trophy next year.

According to details, in his interaction with the delegation of the Indian journalist, the three-time prime minister said: “Many problems will be addressed if the ties between Pakistan and India get improved.”

He said: “The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) can help to foster the ties between Pakistan and India.

“It would have been great if Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Pakistan. The past had been quite tensed; now time to move forward,” he stated. Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz, the daughter of Nawaz Sharif, was also present in the meeting.

Like Nawaz Sharif, PCB and the federal government hopes India will travel to Pakistan for Champions Trophy. Pakistan successfully hosted the 23rd Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit in Islamabad.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif welcomed dignitaries from across the region on Tuesday, marking the first day of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in Islamabad. Pakistan, a full member of the SCO since 2017, plays a key role in this significant regional organization, which includes China, India, Russia, and others.

PM Shehbaz, as the current Chair of the Council of Heads of Government (CHG), presided over the event. Notably, India’s External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar attended, making it the first such high-level visit from India to Pakistan in nearly a decade.

Footage from the dinner event showed PM Shehbaz greeting Jaishankar and other leaders, including those from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. Despite Jaishankar’s post on X focusing only on the SCO summit, his presence in Pakistan stirred diplomatic significance. The Indian minister, however, made it clear that he would not discuss bilateral relations during the meeting, a stance in line with SCO rules.

Formal and informal interactions between dignitaries from India and Pakistan caught the attention of the media at the SCO Summit.
