Islamabad United players won people’s hearts for waiving and parading the Palestinian flags in the stadium after winning the PSL 9 final on Monday in Karachi.
The players expressed solidarity with the people of Palestine and Gaza who have been under constant attack from Israeli forces since October 7th, 2023.
The people of Gaza have been facing a brutal genocide since last year, with the condition of the local populace worsening with each day due to the food and medical aid blockade. Heart-wrenching reports of children and infants dying due to hunger and lack of medical supplies are emerging every day from Gaza.
All the efforts of ceasefire by the international community have failed to bring peace to the city. Hence, in a gesture to express solidarity the victorious team wore the Palestinian flag around their shoulders. They ran through the stadium, waving back and responding to the cheers of the crowd and ecstatic supporters.
When asked about the plan of waiving the Palestinian flag on the ground in the post-match presser, Shadab Khan said it was a collective idea of the team members to express solidarity with Gaza and Palestine.

Khan expressed gratitude to God for granting them victory hence allowing them to put on display a heartfelt gesture of solidarity.
Islamabad United beat Multan Sultan with two wickets in a nail-biting finish of the PSL 9. Multan Sultans led by Muhammad Rizwan set a target of 160 runs for Islamabad United to chase in order to win the trophy.
Imad Wasim from United stood out with his five-wicket knock. Later Naseem Shah with his unbelievable hitting brought Islamabad United in a comfortable position to seal the victory. Islamabad United chased down the target on the last ball of the innings.
