After having proven its success in the crossover SUV segment, MG is looking to compete in the city-friendly hatchback section of the market.
Javed Afridi, CEO of MG in Pakistan, went to Twitter to reveal the estimated price of the new MG 3.

The latest model of MG3 is the Second Generation in the series and competes against Suzuki Swift and Toyota Vitz, the other famous subcompact hatchbacks in the market. After the recent facelift in 2018, the latest model gives a sharper and fresher look.

In the international market, it is being offered in two engine options. One is 1.5-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol-powered, with a horsepower of 105 and 137 newton-metre torque. It has a 5-speed manual transmission. The other one has the same 1.5-liter four-cylinder petrol engine, but with 109 horsepower and 150 Nm of torque and 4-speed automatic transmission.
In terms of the added facilities, the cabin is fixed with a standard 8-inch touch-sensitive infotainment system, with Apple Carplay, Satellite Navigation, cruise control, rear parking sensors, a reverse camera with dynamic guidelines, multimedia controls on the steering wheel, Bluetooth connectivity, AC with dust and pollen filter, a 4-speaker premium sound system and lastly USB/AUX connectivity.
Safety features include 6 airbags, ABS with electronic brakes, emergency braking assistance, an electronic stability program, an active cornering brake control system, hill hold control, tire pressure monitoring, speed-sensitive door locking, a vehicle immobilizer, and automatic door unlocking in case of accidents.

Its price in china ranges from PKR 1.74 million to PKR 1.91 million. With respect to the features, this car is quite reasonable when compared with the competitors like Swift, which has a relatively higher price. If the price in Pakistan is similar as hinted by Mr. Afridi, it is going to get much attention from hatchback consumers.
With the announcement of The Automotive Industry Development and Export Plan (AIDEP) 2021-26 in June, the country’s policy will favor electric vehicles (EVs) more. With this development around the corner, it is intriguing to know what MG has in store for the Pakistani auto market.
