Journalist Mehdi Hassan calls out Hina Pervez Butt for her ignorance

On Wednesday, foreign journalist Mehdi Hassan published a written interview with Imran Khan on a digital media platform.

British-American journalist Mehdi Hassan slams PMLN’s Hina Pervez Butt for accusing him of running a ‘paid interview’ on his media outlet.

On Wednesday, foreign journalist Mehdi Hassan published a written interview with Imran Khan on a digital media platform. A preview of the interview has been done while the whole interview can be read after subscribing to the platform.

Unable to understand the paywall set by the news platform, Hina Pervez Butt accused Mehdi Hassan of conducting the paid interview. Sharing the screenshot of the interview, she wrote: “Take the money Give an interview.”

Journalist Mehdi Hassan replied to the criticism of Hina Pervez Butt and called her out for her ignorance. This Pakistani politician from the governing party is pushing a conspiracy theory that I was “paid” to do my interview with Imran Khan. “Paid” on the post below means it’s a post only for paid subscribers to Zeteo. Imagine being this ignorant & conspiratorial… & elected! Lol.”

Since publishing the interview, the foreign journalist has received backlash from PMLN supporters and criticism of Imran Khan.

At the beginning of the interview, Mehdi Hassan explained how he managed to interview incarcerated Imran Khan. Hassan said that he sent a list of questions to Imran Khan. The former prime minister wrote the answers to the questions and got them delivered.

Since it was not an in-person interview, he could not get a chance to cross-question him. The interview begins by asking Imran Khan about his life behind bars. Imran Khan said that he is being kept in solitary confinement in a death cell to break his spirits. However, he is keeping his resolve firm by extensive reading, exercising and by his firm belief in Almighty Allah.  He was also asked about who he thinks is behind the downfall of his government.
